{FFA Around Atlanta}

Sorry that its been crickets over here lately.  There has been a lot of actual work going on in the FFA house and it has left me with little time for such things as updating a blog.  I can't believe how the short hiatus I planned to take in April has continued on into most of May.  I guess I was really in need of a break.
I can't say I'm not enjoying it.

Anyway...I'm checking in to keep you all up to date on where you can see FFA in person.  We just dropped off a new order to Young Blood Gallery yesterday afternoon, so if you are local you can go see the likes of Johnny Cash, Iggy Pop, Darth Vader and more there.  I heard from the Mister there was still a few left (Macho Man, Hunter S. Thompson and Dolly Parton to name a few).

Also, we have been fortunate enough to be chosen as vendors again at the Indie Craft Experience Summer show.  We will be sharing space with our BFF Mary Rebecca and we'll be bringing along our new work (Andre the Giant in Princess Bride anyone) so please come see us if you are in town!

So, we have 2 weeks to get our acts together for ICE and then we might finally be able to relax...and update the blog more.  Fingers crossed!

{FFA in Print}

We got a welcomed surprise last night when  our friend Colleen of Little Red Afro texted me a picture very similar to the one above.  About a month or so ago we were contacted by Atlanta Magazine.  Someone from the publication had seen our work at Young Blood and they wanted to include us in the May issue where there was going to be an article about the Atlanta handmade/craft scene.  We mailed them a few pieces that they were interested in and then waited.

About a week ago I saw that the new issue was featured on their website and you can preview most of the magazine online.  I found the page with the article and was disappointed to see that our work didn't appear to have made it.  The director of photography had told us there was always the possibility we might get cut...but we were pretty mopey about it.  Of course, I didn't even think to check any other parts of the magazine.  <face palm and sigh>

So last night when we got the text from Colleen I was shocked and actually a little confused.  I asked her where this picture was from (even though it could really only be from one place).  I made Mister run out immediately after we put the Baby to bed to snag  a copy so I could see it in person.  I have to say it was pretty exciting to see a full page with not one, but two of our pieces on there.  I suppose I owe Atlanta Mag an apology for assuming they had tossed us...and for maybe saying a choice thing here or there about it.
(sorry ATL MAG)

I hadn't been able to figure out how to get a screen shot off the reader on their site...so above is a make-shift image from my phone.  You can view the digital version of the page here

In other news we celebrated Baby's birthday this weekend and it was a busy but fun few days.  We'll be back with pictures and more on the celebration soon...for now we're busily finishing our Young Blood order so we can get started on preparations for the Summer ICE show.  We found out last week we were accepted with our BFF Mary Rebecca!  You can see the full vendor list here!

{Now We Are Six: Dear Miller}

When I was one,
I had just begun.
When I was two,
I was nearly new.
When I was three,
I was hardly me.
When I was four,
I was not much more.
When I was five,
I was just alive.
But now I am six,
I'm as clever as clever.
So I think I'll be six
now and forever.
Today my Baby is six.  I can hardly believe how quickly these years have already flown by.  It feels too fast to this Mama...trying to cling to that baby I used to be able to hold in one arm.  It feels very slow to the little boy eager to be a "grown up".  I keep telling him to stop growing so fast...take it slow...being a kid is way more awesome than being an adult.  I know it really doesn't matter what I say.  I am standing here trying as hard as I can to hold back that unstoppable force of time and before I even know it my baby will have outgrown me.  Each day is another step towards independence...which is ultimately what we want for our kids...but damn if it doesn't break your heart into a million bittersweet pieces.  Man, I'm in trouble.  If six is already this hard.
Dear Baby Miller,
Thank you for:
Making me laugh.  You're one of the funniest people I know and you have some of the best jokes.
Still wanting to snuggle your Mama.  You give some of the best hugs in the world!
Being so sweet and caring.  When Mama say she has a headache or any other pain you always are right there with a hug and a "Did that make you feel better?" and it always does.
Being one of the most ridiculous people I know.  You can be equally infuriating and lovable at the exact same time.  I don't know how you do it.
I love you more than conversations with Sean Connery and secret handshakes.  You are the best kidlet a Mama could ask for!
Happy Birthday Baby!
xoxo, Mama

{Dear Mister}

We made it to Friday...finally.
It was a busy week of saying goodbye to our interns at work and celebrating my office mate's baby shower.  Then there was that pesky work garbage that got in the middle of all that.  I have also (slowly) been working on completing our Young Blood order and starting to think about how we are going to set up our booth at ICE with our BFF Mary.  I am ready for some rest and recuperation...but tomorrow we try to pick up...the treadmill.  Yeah...exercise equipment...Medieval torture device.  Whatever.  Doctor said I need to get into shape and...well...I said no more babies until I did, so here's my push to finally get back on the ball.
Hopefully we will fit some sleeping in and fun amongst the errands and sweating.  Hope you all have a great weekend planned.

Dear Mister,

Thank you for:

Nightly back rubs and especially head rubs in light of all my recent headaches.  Caffeine withdrawal???  Maybe.
Not kicking me out of bed for watching youtube after youtube videos of people making babies freak out or cry.  I can't help it...their so pitiful and cute!
Being understanding of my morning grumpies as I leave every morning to go to the job I really don't want to.
and
for Sammiches shaped like LSP!

I Love you more than winning talent shows and yellow dogs!

{My Recent Breakup}

Sigh...my love coffee and I have had a separation recently.  A partial break up.  I'm seeing someone else named Decaf or Half Caf.  Its sad and I am missing my long-time BFF.  I have a problem with Decaf....he's not half the man my beloved coffee was...even when the bag says he is.

Over the past year I have been experiencing some chest palpitations and recently was sent for another battery of tests and a cardiologist appointment by my pcp.  Last year, when this all started to bother me I was sent for an echo and had an in office EKG both of which came out a-okay.  Then this year my EKG showed what are called PVC's basically premature heart beats.  These can supposedly be pretty benign in folks with a healthy heart so to be sure I was okay I went through a round of tests including wearing a Holter monitor for 24 hours and completing a stress test.  Thankfully, according to the cardiologist and a work friend/colleague everything looks to be okay.

That being said I have been instructed to increase daily exercise activity, drop a few pounds and ...sigh...cut back my caffeine intake.  I can deal with the exercise and the need to get into better shape...I have been trying to motivate myself to do that anyway.  Dropping my caffeine though is proving to be a real sucky ride.  This week is the first that I have been doing only half-caf in the mornings and anything else decaf.  This is from a gal who preferred a 3-4 cup a day schedule during the week and more on the weekends.  I am dragging folks.  I'm cranky and tired and mopey.

That is all.

Hey all!

Hope you had a wonderful weekend.  Ours was busy, busy but we have finally managed to update the All Night Diner shop with some of the new patterns we have been working on.  There will be more to come in a few weeks, but for now enjoy!
